Wildlife and Nature Photography
I have a deep passion for wildlife and ecology, and spend as much time as possible in wild places. In my work I aim to convey the beauty, as well as the fragility, of the wilderness and creatures we all take for granted. I believe that sensitive photography of the threatened natural world is the key to its survival. Without stunning images to drive us to protect what we are in danger of losing, our landscapes and species will not survive. I have won three awards in the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition hosted at the Natural History Museum in London, the most prestigious wildlife photography competition in the world.
There are more wildlife images in my stock photography collection, and further images for sale in the Getty and Photoshot stock libraries. Please contact me if you would like to discuss a particular requirement for a framed print or canvas, or to commission new work.
If you are interested in learning to take your own wildlife photographs I teach wildlife photography skills in Going Digital Scotland workshops. Close to home in Edinburgh we can practise at Edinburgh Zoo, or venture further afield to the Highland Wildlife Park in Aviemore. This is a wonderful place to catch playful polar bears sparring in their pond. I organize “bird of prey” photography days, and who can resist a day photographing playful red squirrels and ospreys from a hide? I have run many successful landscape photography and Nothern Lights holidays to Iceland which are unfortunately temporarily suspended during the pandemic. I’m so lucky living in Scotland as I have stunning mountain landscapes and seascapes on my doorstep whenever I need to escape!
