Virgin Active London Triathlon 2011

In the middle of the night I kept reminding myself: “It can’t be harder than A-level maths”. This no-brainer has never let me down before. So why was I still awake at 5am???? Seven hours later I did feel tearful as I sprang across the finishing line – not the tears of relief that I had expected, but emotional  that this seemingly impossible mission had been well and truly accomplished,  and now what???? These are images from a fantastic event organised by Scottish Cycling in Pollok Park in Glasgow: “Women’s Learn to Ride Biking Festival”. The aim was to encourage women to get involved, feel comfortable around bikes, get more information on accessing their local……..
These images are from a photoshoot for Ben Glencross who teaches mountain biking skills to novices. I had to laugh when Ben thought I would be biking AND taking pictures…….Having Edinburgh Rat Raced with him a few times now, he of all people knows that my mountain bike skills are lamentable. I preferred to keep my cameras (and myself for that matter)  in one piece!!!……..
Edinburgh-based oil company Cairn Energy sent me to Greenland during the summer of 2010 to capture images of its thrilling oil exploration programme. Cairn Energy is the first company for a decade to drill for oil offshore in the iceberg-infested waters………
Wishing all my family and friends a very happy and healthy New Year!!! 2010 was a wonderful year for Robin and myself with the highlight being our wedding in May, but we have both resolved to try and slow down a wee bit this year and take the time to enjoy life at a more sensible pace….I have, however, taken the precaution of setting myself some more achievable New Year resolutions!  And thanks to all my nephews for……..
