NVA’s Speed of Light 2012

NVA’s Speed of Light runners have been a joy to work with. Hundreds of hill runners have been trotting around Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh almost every night for the last three weeks in the London 2012 Festival Calendar. More details of NVA can be found at http://www.nva.org.uk Many of you have asked whether it is possible to purchase images. It is possible, of course. I can offer prints, canvasses or acrylics. Please ask if……..
My FIRST baby has finally turned up to have her portraits taken in the new studio. It proved a wonderful luxurious white space to work in and I felt truly spoilt. The baby seemed bamboozled by all the flashing lights and the airy room with picture windows looking out onto a field. She was the sweetest little thing and eventually fell asleep so I could grab a coffee with her mother.        ……..
FCBC has saved over 70,000 bluebell corms lying in the path of the new bridge by transplanting them in a new site at Castlandhill House. The Fife Coast & Conservation Trust advised FCBC on the delicate operation. Amanda McFarlane, chief executive of the Trust, came on-site to receive a cheque for £2,000 from FCBC Project Director, Carlo Germani, by way of thanks………
Cabinet Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment Alex Neil MSP visited the Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC) site in December to learn about the progress of the project. He revealed that it was boosting the Scottish construction sector with 118 sub-contracts, worth in excess of £20 million, already awarded to Scottish firms …… including little old me!!  ……..
These images are from a photoshoot for Ben Glencross who teaches mountain biking skills to novices. I had to laugh when Ben thought I would be biking AND taking pictures…….Having Edinburgh Rat Raced with him a few times now, he of all people knows that my mountain bike skills are lamentable. I preferred to keep my cameras (and myself for that matter)  in one piece!!!……..
Edinburgh’s newest photographic studio is on its way! It’s been a few years in the pipeline but the diggers started digging in October. Award-winning architects Philip Campbell and Bengt Ericsson of Ericsson Architects, Dalkeith, have designed the “Whitespace” to perfection. Stanley Brash’s builders are building it! http://www.ericsson-architects.co.uk The new studio is surrounded by fields and trees so folk will be able to take advantage of the beautiful rural backgrounds on its doorstep as well as……..
I married Robin McBride on May 2nd 2010, a few hours after we ran the Edinburgh 10K! We were thrilled to be joined in the run by about 30 of our guests – once they realised I wasn’t joking! And very happy to have raised over £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support………
Another fun photoshoot hyping up children………As if they weren’t already wiped out after thrashing rival Edinburgh schools rugby teams I was soon putting them through their paces to capture some unique images of their schooldays. Cunning fatherly plan for a surprise Christmas present for mum.   Just hope their mum loves them as they are, and not scrubbed up with a white background……….    I look forward to seeing these talented and committed young players running out at Murrayfield in 2020………. ……..
Tonight’s frozen AND burnt pizza offering tastes even WORSE  – after a gourmet mushroom foraging weekend in the magical woodlands at Ardanaiseig House Hotel, near Oban, on the west coast of Scotland. From all over the UK, a group of sixteen had travelled to Ardanaiseig House Hotel, winner of “Scottish Romantic Hotel of the Year” to learn how to identify and cook edible fungi.  Dick calls them “free groceries”. Soon we began to find mushrooms that we could eat…..  And……..
